Preparation and Safety Precautions

Ensure all electrical connections are complete before starting the procedure.

Is the compressor access panel installed?

Route manifold hoses through refrigerant gauge access holes.

Is a qualified licensed electrician present for handling live electrical components?

Allow the system to run for 5 to 10 minutes to stabilize operating conditions.

Airflow and Refrigerant Charging

Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.

Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.

Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.

Remove enough panels from the unit to gain safe access to coils.

Straighten any bent coil fins with a fin comb.

Remove loose dirt and debris from both sides of the coil with a soft brush.

Inspect individual pieces of the shipment

Inspect the unit for concealed damage before storage

Was concealed damage discovered?

Stop unpacking the shipment if concealed damage is discovered

Do not remove damaged material from the receiving location

Take photos of the damage if possible

Notify the carrier’s terminal of damage immediately by phone and by mail

Request an immediate joint inspection of the damage by the carrier and the consignee

Ensure only dry nitrogen with a pressure regulator is used for pressurizing unit.

Confirm no use of acetylene, oxygen, or compressed air for pressure testing.

Verify no use of open flame for gas leak detection.

Pressurize the system through the service valve with dry nitrogen to 200 psi.

Use soap bubbles or other leak-checking methods to ensure all field joints are leak-free.

If leaks are found, release pressure, repair, and repeat leak test.

Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.

Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.

Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.

Ensure the compressor is not operated or powered while under a vacuum.

Monthly Maintenance Inspections

Inspect the condenser coils for dirt and debris.
