Ensure the shaft is turning during lubrication

Pump grease into the stuffing box (approximately 20 shots)

Did grease come out around the packing gland?

Is the packing leakage excessive?

Select the type of grease to use

Check if the packing is overheating

Impeller and Stuffing Box Disassembly

Restrain the shaft (7) at the coupling end to prevent rotation while removing the impeller

Describe the method used for impeller removal

Remove stuffing box cover bolt (3A)

Remove stuffing box cover (3) from frame by hammering on the back side

Is the stationary seat (Item 1 on Figure 9) removed from the stuffing box?

Pull packing (5) from stuffing box bore

Ensure the pump is turned off and cooled down before starting lubrication.

Verify that the oil reservoir is empty before adding oil.

Attach the oiler to the bearing housing.

Fill the oiler bottle with SAE 10W 30 oil.

Place the filled oiler bottle in position.

Is the oiler bottle remaining full of oil after placement?

Ensure the following items are ready

Inject five shots of grease into the inboard bearing lubrication port, rotating the shaft 1/4 turn between each shot.

Inject five shots of grease into the outboard bearing lubrication port, rotating the shaft 1/4 turn between each shot.

Remove the relief port plug from the inboard bearing cap.

Add grease to the inlet port until grease exits the relief port.

Replace the relief port plug after lubrication.

Check for excessive erosion on pump-out vanes on back side of impeller

Inspect for corrosion, extreme wear or vane breakage

Replace impeller if any issues are found

Inspect bearing seats and oil seal area for smoothness and absence of scratches or grooves

Check shaft threads for good condition
