Has the valve been decontaminated if it was used with hazardous media?

Ensure all personnel are wearing proper protective clothing

Place valve in half-open position

Flush the line to remove any hazardous material from the valve

Disassembly & Cleaning Procedure

Replace parts without disturbing pipe alignment

Screw valve on threaded lines without unions

Ensure three-piece construction makes valve ends free by removing bolts

Is the ball valve free of trapped fluids in the ball cavity when closed?

Put valve in close position (handle and pipe are in vertical position)

Fix the valve on the pipe temporarily with spot welding on four points of end caps

Turn the valve to open position (handle and pipe are in parallel position)

Use a tool to take off three bolts

Keep one bolt in loose position
