Alarm Ratemeter Calibration
Note: Local procedures may supersede the following.
Instrument Connection
Connect the instrument to a Ludlum Model 500 Pulser (Pulse Generator) or equivalent.
Calibration Controls Adjustment
Adjust the calibration controls
1000 Range Calibration
Apply 400,000 CPM from the pulser and adjust the 1K calibration control for a meter reading of 400.
100,000 CPM Calibration
Drop the pulse rate to 100,000 CPM and ensure a meter reading of 100 ±10.
Alarm Ratemeter Maintenance
Instrument Cleaning and Battery Check
Clean the instrument exterior
Is the battery in good condition?
Operational Check
Expose the detector to a known source
Confirm the proper reading on each scale
Recalibration
Has any maintenance or adjustment been performed on the instrument?
Is recalibration required based on local regulations?
