Allow the instrument to sit for 1 minute before accessing internal components

Clean the Model 3 with a damp cloth using only water as the wetting agent

Ensure the instrument is not immersed in any liquid

Instrument Cleaning and Battery Check

Remove batteries and clean battery contacts of any corrosion

Use a spanner wrench to unscrew battery contact insulators and expose internal contacts and battery springs

Remove handle to facilitate access to contacts

Has the instrument been exposed to a damp or corrosive atmosphere?

Expose detector to a known source
