Measure the water hardness in grains per gallon

Is the water hardness between 5 and 12 grains per gallon?

Consult local water treatment companies for hard water areas (above 12 grains per gallon hardness)

Measure the pH level of the water

Is the pH level between 6.5 and 8.5?

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Check

Measure the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in ppm

Ensure the following safety measures are in place

Verify that the gas valve is not a conventional type

Disconnect the flanged connections to the venturi and the blower

Install the new gas valve with flanged connections to the venturi and the blower

Secure all connections properly

Disconnect the two external wires connected to the enable terminals on the connection board.

Connect a voltmeter across the two incoming wires and close each thermostat, zone valve, and relay in the external circuit one at a time. Record the voltmeter reading across the incoming wires.

If a voltage occurs, was the external wiring checked and corrected?

Reconnect the external thermostat circuit wires to the connection board.

Turn the main power off to the boiler by placing the 'On/Off' switch in the OFF position.

Turn the main power on to the boiler by placing the 'On/Off' switch in the ON position.

Turn the main power off to the boiler after completing the combustion check.

Flue Collector and Combustion Analyzer Setup

Remove the fitting from the flue collector.

Insert the probe from a combustion analyzer into the hole left by the removal of the fitting.

Boiler Setup and Combustion Measurement

Navigate to the Setup Screen from the Home Screen by pressing the SETUP button along the left side of the screen.

Check for gas odor around the boiler

If gas odor is detected, shut down the boiler immediately

Locate the source of the gas leak using a bubble test

Repair the gas leak immediately

Do not restart the boiler until the gas leak is corrected
