Coat threads with anti-seize when replacing bolts

Relieving Internal Pressure Procedure for LPG and NH₃ Meters

Close the belly valve of the supply tank.

Close the valve on the vapor return line.

Close the manual valve in the supply line on the inlet side of the meter.

Is there a manual valve on the inlet side of the meter?

Consult the truck manufacturer for procedures to depressurize the system if no manual valve exists.

Slowly open the valve/nozzle at the end of the supply line.

Has the internal pressure been relieved to zero?

Remove the two screws on the packing gland retaining plate with a 5/16" socket and ratchet drive extension or 5/16" nut driver.

Pry off the retaining ring with a standard screwdriver.

Pull the driver out from the assembly.

Select the mounting option for the retaining plate based on your meter's configuration.

Identify the condition of the O-rings

Action Based on O-Rings Condition

Do the O-rings need replacement due to damage?

Do the O-rings appear nibbled, indicating a potential shock problem?

Describe any shock problems identified

Check the bearing plates for flatness using a straight edge

Inspect for warped bearing plates

If warped bearing plates are found, determine if shock problems exist
