200 Hourly Oil Filter Replacemenet
Oil Drainage
Drain the oil from the engine crankcase.
Remove the oil filter drain plug (where applicable) located at the base of the oil filter adapter and allow the oil filter to drain.
Old Filter Removal and Preparation
Remove the old filter and wipe off the filter adapter.
Torque the oil filter drain plug to 7.3-9.0 N·m (65-80 in. lb.).
New Filter Preparation
Place a new replacement filter in a shallow pan with the open end up.
Pour new oil into the filter until it reaches the bottom of the threads.
25 Hourly Precleaner Element Maintenance
Precleaner Removal and Cleaning
Remove the precleaner from the paper element
Wash the precleaner in warm water with detergent
Rinse the precleaner thoroughly until all traces of detergent are eliminated
Squeeze out excess water (do not wring)
Allow the precleaner to air dry
Precleaner Oil Saturation
Saturate the precleaner with new engine oil
Squeeze out all excess oil
100 Hourly Air Cleaner Paper Element Replacement
Removal of Air Cleaner Element
Remove the wing nut and air cleaner element
Remove the precleaner from the paper element, if equipped
Cleaning and Inspection
Gently tap the flat side of the paper element to dislodge dirt
Is the paper element dirty, bent, or damaged?
Replace with a genuine Kohler element if necessary
Inspect the rubber seal on the stud for wear or damage
Replace the rubber seal if worn, damaged, or questionable
1 Daily Engine Inspection
Fill fuel tank
Check oil level
Ensure the engine is stopped, level, and cool
Clean the area around the oil fill cap/dipstick before removing it
Unthread and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick; wipe oil off
Reinsert the dipstick into the tube and rest the oil fill cap on the tube without threading
Remove the dipstick and check the oil level
Is the oil level up to, but not over the 'F' mark on the dipstick?
Add oil of the proper type if the level is low, up to the 'F' mark on the dipstick
200 Hourly Spark Plug Maintenance
Preparation
Clean the area around the base of the spark plug
Blow out the cavity with compressed air
Spark Plug Removal and Inspection
Remove the spark plug
Check the condition of the spark plug
Is the spark plug worn or questionable for reuse?
Spark Plug Replacement
Replace the spark plug if necessary
