Deck Spindles and Front Caster Wheel Pivots Lubrication
Lubricate one mower deck spindle grease fitting (A), located in the center of the deck
Lubricate two mower deck spindle grease fittings (B)
Lubricate Front Caster Wheel Pivots
Lubricate both front caster wheel pivot grease fittings (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant NM Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease
Sign off on the lubrication process
Deck Lift Spring Tension (E and M Series Machines) Maintenance
Park machine on a hard, level surface.
Engine stopped and park brake locked?
Raise the mower deck to the transport position.
Lift the operator seat and lock into position.
Measure length (A).
While Looking from Rear of Machine:
Turn the hex nut (B)
Sign off on the spring tension maintenance
Caster Wheels Replacement
Machine parked safely
Front of machine lifted with a safe lifting device
Hex nut (A) and wheel bolt (B) removed
Wheel removed from assembly yoke (C)
Replacement wheel installed with bearing dust caps
Wheel bolt (B) and hex nut (A) installed
Nut tightened and torqued to specification
Machine lowered
Blades Maintenance
Clean blade
Put blade on nail in a vise. Turn blade to horizontal position.
Check balance. If blade is not balanced, heavy end of blade will drop.
Grind bevel of heavy end. Do not change blade bevel.
Sign off on the blade maintenance
