2 Yearly Maintenance
Drain, Flush, and Refill Engine Cooling System
Relieve pressure and remove radiator cap (A)
Open radiator and engine drain cocks (B)
Remove thermostat cover (C) and thermostats. Install cover without thermostats. Tighten cap screws.
Close drain cocks, fill system with a cooling system cleaning solution. Operate engine up to normal temperature. Stop engine and drain system.
Repeat step 4 using clean water.
Remove thermostat cover. Clean sealing area. Apply sealant to new gasket and install thermostats. Tighten cap screws to 48 Nom (35 lb-ft).
Close drain cocks again. Fill system with the specified coolant. Operate engine to circulate and mix coolant. Coolant level should be up to mark on expansion tank.

Check Manual Brakes
With engine stopped, check manual brakes for correct function:
Pump individually the left brake (A) and right brake (B). The pedals should have a solid feel. If pedals do not feel solid, bleed the brakes or see your John Deere Dealer.
Check to make sure the pedals do not settle to the end of stroke within 10 seconds after being applied. If leakage exceeds this rate or if one pedal settles faster than the other, see your John Deere Dealer.
