6000 Hourly Maintenance
Change the coolant
Turn the heater control as far as it will go to the right
Loosen cap (A) and then take it off
Turn connect/disconnect control (B) anti-clockwise as far as it will go
Place a container under the drains to trap the coolant as it emerges. Open drain plug (C)
Close drain plug (C) and fill the system with clean water
Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature. Shut off engine and drain cooling system
Close drain plug again and fill the system with clean water
Again run engine until it has reached operating temperature. Shut off engine and drain system again
1500 Hourly Maintenance
Change oil in axle and final drives (tractors with front-wheel drive)
Did you replace oil in axle housing and final drives after the first 100 hours of operation?
Did you replace oil after every 1500 hours of operation or once every 2 years, whichever occurs first?
Did you drain oil while it is still warm, i.e. immediately after a prolonged period of operation?
Change Oil In Front-Wheel Drive Axle Housing
Did you remove drain screw (A) and drain oil into a suitable container?
Did you re-install drain screw and tighten to 90 N.m (66 lb .- ft.)?
Did you remove oil level/filler plug (B)?
Did you fill with fresh oil? The oil level must be up to the filler hole.
100 Hourly Maintenance
Drain engine crankcase and refill with fresh oil
Replace engine oil filter
Tighten screws on front loader bracket
Check air intake hoses
Replace transmission/hydraulic oil filter
Drain the axle housing and final drives, and refill with fresh oil
Lubricate front PTO drive shaft
Retighten cab attaching screws. Torques: front screws 280 N-m (205 Ib-ft), rear screws 200 N-m (150 lb-ft)
Sign off on the 100 Hourly Maintenance
Yearly Maintenance
Inspect seat belt
Drain engine crankcase and refill with fresh oil
Check engine drive belt for wear
Lubricate front PTO drive shaft
Replace cab air filters
Use coolant test strip to test coolant
John Deere COOL-GARD™ II Premix and COOL-GARD II Concentrate are maintenance-free coolants for up to 6 years or 6000 hours of operation, provided that the cooling system is topped off using only John Deere COOL-GARD II Premix coolant. Test the coolant condition annually with coolant test strips designed for use with John Deere COOLGARD II coolants. If the test strip chart indicates that additive is required, add John Deere COOL-GARD II EXTENDER as directed.
Open the hood
First loosen cap (A) and then take it off
10 Hourly / Daily Maintenance
Check engine oil level
Check the fuel filter
Open bleed screw (A)
Open drain plug (B) by 3/4 of a turn. Retighten the plug as soon as water and sediment deposits have drained out
Open drain plug (C) by 3/4 of a turn. Retighten the plug as soon as water and sediment deposits have drained out
Tighten bleed screw (A)
Turn key in main switch to the right to the first switch position so that the fuel transfer pump is operating. Keep the pump running for approx. 40 seconds
If water was present in fuel filter, use a 1/2-inch square-section key to loosen drain plug (D) under the fuel tank by one turn. After draining off any water and sediment deposits, retighten drain plug until hand-tight
