1. Operate engine to warm oil.

2. Park machine on level ground and shut off engine.

3. Remove key.

4. Place a container under the drain port, capture waste oil and dispose of properly.

5. Remove drain plug (A) and allow oil to drain.

6. Open hood.

7. Remove engine oil filter (B). Make sure that old filter gasket is removed from housing before installing new filter.

8. Apply a film of oil on the new oil filter gasket and install new filter. Hand-tighten plus 1/2 turn.

Squeeze the end of the dust unloading valve (A) open and remove any excessive buildup of dust and dirt. Replace if damaged.

Drain Water and Sediment from Fuel Tank and Fuel Filter

Park machine on level ground and shut off engine. Remove key.

Check mark

Open fuel tank drain plug (A) to bleed accumulated moisture and sediment from the fuel tank. Tighten plug when clear fuel runs from fitting.

Disconnect coolant hoses from fittings (A and D)

Disconnect DEF return and supply lines from fittings (B and C)

Disconnect DEF tank header electrical connector

Remove vent hose from fitting (E)

Remove cap screws from DEF tank header locking ring (A)

Check mark

Remove DEF tank header (C) from tank

Check mark

Remove O-rings (B) and inspect for damage

1200 Hourly Maintenance

Check Fan Belt Tensioner

Check mark

1. Place machine in park and shut off engine. Remove key.

Check mark

2. Remove fan belt.

Check mark

3. Put a mark on swing arm (A) of the tensioner as shown.

Check mark

4. Measure 21 mm (0.83 in) from mark on swing arm (A) and put a mark on tensioner mounting base (B).

Check mark

5. Rotate the swing arm using a torque wrench until marks (A and B) are aligned. Pull tensioner with torque wrench away from engine.

Check mark

6. Record torque wrench measurement and compare with specification. If recorded measurement is below specifications, have your John Deere dealer replace tensioner assembly.

7. Install fan belt. (See Replace Fan Belt in this section.)
