500 Hourly / 2 Yearly Maintenance
Changing Fluid
Change fluid every 2 years or 500 hours of operation.
Park tractor on a slight downward incline.
Remove transmission-to-axle cooling tube (B) and drain fluid into a container.
Change filter (A) as explained above.
Remove fill tube cap (C) with a wrench.
Reinstall cooling tube (B).
Fill transmission with approximately 5 quarts (4.731 L) of John Deere All-Weather Hydrostatic Fluid, John Deere HY-GARD® Transmission and Hydraulic Oil or an equivalent Type "F" Automotive Automatic Transmission Fluid.
Install fill tube cap (C).
25 Hourly Maintenance
Warning: Always wear protective gloves and goggles when handling battery electrolyte
Check the electrolyte level of each cell
Is the electrolyte level 1/4 to 1/2 inch (6.4 to 12.7 mm) above top of plate separators?
Is it necessary to use distilled water to fill each cell to the proper level?
Sign off on the 25 hourly maintenance
50 Hourly Maintenance
Changing Filter
Filter changed every 50 hours of operation?
It is not necessary to drain transmission. Turn filter (A) counterclockwise to remove. If necessary, use a filter wrench to loosen filter.
Amount of hydrostatic fluid filled in the filter (half-full)
Moisten rubber gasket on filter with fluid.
Filter installed hand-tight?
Do not use filter wrench. Filter gasket may be damaged.
Amount of fluid added after removing fill tube cap (C). It should be 1/4 to 1-1/4 inches (5 to 30 mm) above bottom of slot in frame in sight tube (D).
