Transmission filter turned counterclockwise to remove it?

Film of clean transmission oil put on seal of new filter?

Filter filled 1/3 to 1/2 full with John Deere All-Weather Hydrostatic Fluid or an equivalent type 'F' Automatic Transmission Fluid?

Filter tightened quickly until it contacts the mounting surface?

Check mark

Filter tightened by hand an additional 1/2 turn?

Drain plug installed and tightened?

Dipstick fill plug removed?

Check and clean precleaner and air cleaner

Remove two thumb screws (A) to remove cover (B) on 240, 260 and 265 Tractor air cleaner (C) or 285 Tractor air cleaner (D)

If precleaner (A) is dirty, remove it from paper element (B)

Check mark

If paper element is dirty, tap it gently on your hand to remove dust. If element is very dirty, install a new element

If precleaner is dirty, wash it in a solution of warm water and liquid detergent. DO NOT wash paper element

Rinse precleaner

Check mark

Squeeze excess water from precleaner

Run engine to warm the oil

Park tractor on level surface

Check mark

Stop engine and remove ignition key

Remove drain plug (A) to drain oil

Check mark

Remove oil filter (B) on tractors so equipped. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove

Apply a film of clean engine oil on seal of new filter. Install filter. Turn filter until seal contacts mounting surface. Then turn filter BY HAND 1/2 turn more
