1 Daily / 10 Hourly Upright Rammer Maintenance

It is recommended that the following steps be performed at the beginning and end of each 8 to 10 hour shift or daily, whichever comes first.

1. Engine Oil

• Check the engine’s oil level at the start of each day and maintain it to the full mark on the dipstick. Insert the dipstick and check the full mark on the dipstick.

2. Air Cleaner

• If the machine is operating in a dusty environment check the air cleaner daily. Keep the Air Cleaner Element clean. WARNING! Never use gasoline or low flash point solvents to clean the filter. a fire or explosion may result.

To clean the Air Cleaner: 1. Remove the wing nut and air cleaner cover.

2. Remove wing nut and the element assembly.

3. Separate foam element from paper element. Check both elements for holes or tears and replace if necessary.

4. To clean the foam element wash in a solution of household detergent and warm water, then rinse thoroughly or wash in a nonflammable solvent. Allow to dry thoroughly. Soak the element in clean engine oil and squeeze out excess oil. Too much oil will cause engine to smoke on initial start-up.

1) Check Engine Oil

CAUTION! • Running the engine with insufficient oil can cause serious engine damage.

• Be sure machine is on a firm level surface and stopped.

1. Place the machine on a stable level surface and stop the engine.

2. Remove oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe off the dipstick.

3. Place the dipsick back into the engine but do not screw it in. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level.

4. If the level is low, fill to the top of the oil filler neck (e, [Figure 9]) with the recommended oil. 5. Place the oil filler cap/dipstick into the engine and screw it into place. Wipe up any excess oil.

2) Change Engine Oil

1. Stop the engine, loosen and remove the drain plug, drain the oil and reinstall the drain plug before refilling with oil.

Always use the best grade of fresh, clean oil. Contaminated oil, poor quality oil and shortage of oil will cause damage to engine or shorten the engine life.
