3 Monthly / 500 Hourly Compressor Oil Separator Element Maintenance

1. Removal

Check mark

WARNING: Do not remove the filter(s) without first making sure that the machine is stopped and the system has been completely relieved of all air pressure.

• Disconnect all hoses and tubes from the separator tank cover plate.

Check mark

• Remove the drop–tube from the separator tank cover plate and then remove the cover plate. Remove the separator element.

2. Inspection

• Examine the filter element. Examine all hoses and tubes, and replace if necessary.

3. Reassembly

Check mark

• Thoroughly clean the orifice/drop tube and filter gasket contact area before reassembly. Install the new element.

WARNING! Do not remove the staple from the anti–static gasket on the separator element since it serves to ground any possible static build–up.Do not use gasket sealant since this will affect electrical conductance.

1 Weekly IQ System Maintenance

Check mark

Remove Y–strainer screens at the bottom of the moisture separator and both filters and clean out any residue

Check mark

Verify that the orifices below the Y–strainers are not clogged

Check mark

Verify that the piping from the orifice purge points to the exhaust system is not clogged

Check mark

Sign off on the system maintenance

Speed and Pressure Regulation Adjustment

Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel only!

Is the machine started?

Check mark

Is the service valve adjusted to maintain normal operating discharge pressure and full speed position?

Check mark

Does the tachometer move away from the full speed position before normal operating discharge pressure is attained?

Check mark

If yes, turn the adjusting screw ‘A’ clockwise to increase the pressure.

Check mark

Is the optimum adjustment achieved when the throttle just moves from its full speed position and the pressure increases slightly?

Is the service valve closed?

Check mark

Has the engine slowed to idle speed?

Check mark

CAUTION: Never allow the idle pressure to exceed maximum allowable pressure.

1 Yearly IQ System Filter Replacement

Warning: Ensure engine is stopped and pressure is relieved from air system before starting.

Pressure relieved from air system?

Check mark

All wires and hoses disconnected from drains on bottom of each filter housing?

Check mark

Fittings and hoses inspected for blockage and cleaned if necessary?

Check mark

Housing loosened using a chain wrench or similar tool?

Check mark

Housing removed by hand after loosening, preventing it from falling to the floor panel?

Check mark

Housing lowered to floor panel and leaned against the airend?

Check mark

Filter element replaced without damaging outer wrap?

Check mark

Enter the part number of new element

3 Monthly Protective Shutdown System Test

Check mark

Refer to the Wedge diagnostic display codes table for a listing of shutdown conditions.

Low engine fuel level switch.

Check mark

At three month intervals, test the low engine fuel level switch circuit as follows:

Start the machine. Note: Do not press the load button.

Check mark

Disconnect the switch, the machine should shutdown.

Check mark

Re–connect the switch.

Check mark

At twelve month intervals, test the low engine fuel level switch by removing and operating the float manually

Check mark

CAUTION: Never remove or replace switches when the machine is running.

Sign off on the Protective Shutdown System Test
