Air Chain Hoist Inspection
Hoist: Check for visual signs or abnormal noises
Hoist: All controls function properly and return to neutral when released
Hoist: Chain feed through hoist and bottom block
Hooks: Check for wear or damage, increased throat width, bent shank or twisting of hook
Hooks: Check hook support bearings for lubrication or damage
Hook Latch: Make sure hook latch is present and operating
Air System: Visually inspect all connections, fittings, hoses and components for indication of air leaks
Emergency Stop: Check Emergency Stop for proper operation
Limit Switch Devices: Without a load on the hook, the load block should be inched into the limit switch
1 Monthly Air Chain Inspection
Depending on Working Conditions Frequent Inspection Interval can be changed. Normal - Monthly, Heavy - Weekly, Severe - Daily.
Check all functional operating mechanisms for maladjustment and unusual sounds.
Check the hoist braking system for proper operation.
Inspect hooks, per guidance given in manual.
Check hook latch for proper function.
Inspect load chain, per guidance given in manual.
Check load chain reeving for compliance to manufacturers recommendations.
Inspect air system; lines, valves, and other parts for leakage.
Check pendant and e-stop; confirm proper operation.
1 Weekly Load Chain Lubrication
WARNING! Failure to maintain a clean and well-lubricated load chain will result in rapid load chain wear that can lead to chain failure which may result in death, severe injury, or substantial property damage.
Lubricate each link of load chain weekly, or more frequently, depending on severity of service.
In corrosive environments, lubricate more frequently than normal.
Lubricate each link of the load chain and apply new lubricant over existing layer.

1 Yearly Gear Oil Replacement
Warning: Only trained personnel should perform this procedure.
Ensure all points requiring lubrication are serviced with the correct lubricant at the proper time interval.
If the hoist is operated more frequently, a more frequent lubrication schedule will be required.
Lubricant types and change intervals are based on operation in an environment relatively free of dust, moisture, and corrosive fumes.
Use only those lubricants recommended. Other lubricants may affect performance of hoist.
Drain and refill hoist reduction gear oil.
Sign off on the gear oil replacement
