10000 Hours / 2 Yearly Pump Maintenance
Remove bearing housings from pump
Remove old grease
Thoroughly clean bearing housings
Refill bearings with fresh grease
Refit bearing housings in accordance with assembly instructions
1 Weekly Pump Maintenance
Warning: Before starting work on the pump, make sure that the electricity supply has been switched off and that it cannot be accidentally switched on
Routine maintenance is essential to maintain the pump in a good condition. A high degree of cleanliness should be maintained during all maintenance procedures
Inspections should be carried out in accordance with the routine maintenance chart below. Depending on operation and environmental conditions together with a comparison of previous inspections, the frequency of inspections may be altered to maintain satisfactory operation of the pump
Visually check for leaks
Check for vibrations
Hand test bearing housing for any sign of temperature rise
Check correct leaking from stuffing box (approx. 40-60 drops per minute)
Check pump bearing temperature every month
Sign off on the weekly pump maintenance
2000 Hours Bearing Lubrication
Warning: Pump bearings are lubricated prior to delivery
To refill the bearings with fresh grease, use a grease gun and press grease through the two lubricating nipples provided
HS pump complete: We recommend to apply grease while pump is running
HS bare shaft pump combined with motor not supplied by Grundfos: Do not apply grease while pump is running, unless a CE-approved coupling guard is fitted
The relubricating intervals and information on quantity and type of grease are stated on the lubricating plate (if available) on the pump
Relubricate each bearing every 2000 operating hours with a quantity of 8-12 cm3 (8-12 ml)
Caution: Do not overgrease! Too much grease can cause over-heating and premature bearing failure
Lubricate the motor in accordance with the indications on the motor nameplate
Select the manufacturer and lubricant used
6 Monthly Pump Maintenance
Check shaft for scores
Check alignment of pump and motor
Check fixing bolts and tighten, if necessary
Check coupling for wear
Sign off on the pump maintenance
1 Yearly Pump Maintenance
Warning: Impeller and wear rings may have sharp edges due to wear
Check whether the grease in the pump bearings has hardened
Check rotating assembly for wear
Check wear ring clearances
Between regular maintenance inspections, be aware of signs of motor or pump trouble
Sign off on the pump maintenance
