Is the environment temperature between 32ºF (0ºC) and 200ºF (93ºC)?

Are there unusual environmental conditions such as moisture or contaminants?

Disconnect, lock, and tag power source before servicing

Refer to the paragraph on bearings for bearing lubrication

Check motor type for lubrication needs

Oil motors with oil holes according to manufacturer's instructions

Grease motors with grease fittings according to manufacturer's instructions

Calculate proper belt deflection

Loosen fasteners on motor plate

Inspect for moisture or dirt accumulations

Describe the source of moisture or dirt, if found

Rotate the wheel by hand ten to fifteen revolutions to distribute lubricant on motor

Is there any paint deterioration?

Describe the paint deterioration and actions taken

Are there signs of rust on machined parts?

Remove original rust preventive coating with petroleum solvent

Clean the exterior surface of the motor

Ensure no water or solvents enter the motor or bearings
