Warning: Do not perform engine maintenance without the engine off, spark plug wires disconnected and PTO disengaged.

Check oil level with the dipstick.

If oil is needed, add fresh oil of proper viscosity and grade. See engine manual for oil specifications. Do not overfill.

Replace dipstick before starting engine.

Traction levers in the neutral lock position

Engine cranks with parking brake off

Engine cranks with either traction lever out of neutral lock

Engine runs at 1/2 throttle with operator on machine but raised off the seat

Warning: Ensure the tractor is turned off and cooled down before starting the procedure.

Is the tractor running unevenly, lacking power or emitting black exhaust?

If yes, this may indicate a dirty air cleaner.

Unclamp end cover C and remove existing cleaner element A.

Upload a photo of the removed cleaner element A.

Ensure breathing port B is pointing down and towards the front of the tractor.

Sign off on the air cleaner element maintenance.

Perform transaxle maintenance with the engine off, spark plug wires disconnected and PTO disengaged.

Change the transaxle fluid every 400 hours of operation or once a year.

Ensure the exterior of the transaxle is free of debris, prior to fluid maintenance.

Removed the three 1/4\ filter guard screws and filter guard A?"

Removed the oil filter B from the transaxle and discarded?

Wiped the filter base surface off and applied a film of new oil to the gasket of the new replacement filter?

Installed the new filter by hand, turned 3/4 to one full turn after the filter gasket contacts the filter base surface?

Re-installed the filter guard and torqued the three screws to 65 in. lbs. each?

Removed cap C, filled the transaxles through the expansion tank D with approximately 2 quarts of SAE 20W-50 engine oil PER TRANSAXLE?

Warning: Ensure the engine is off and cool before starting the procedure

Spark plug removed successfully

If the spark plug is white blistered or black coated, it indicates a problem. Do not attempt to repair, replace it.

New spark plug installed successfully

Enter the spark plug gap as specified in the engine manual
