Internal Gear Pump Overhaul
Warning: Protect the idler gear from falling as it may become loose during removal of the head
Remove the screws that hold the head to the casing
Remove the head from the pump using either jacking screws or prying bar
Remove the idler gear and bushing assembly
Remove the seal or packing set
Loosen the six (6) mounting fasteners that hold the RBS to the casing or adapter plate
Carefully remove the rotor/shaft assembly
For 55, 133 and 254 size pumps, remove the screws that hold the adapter plate to the casing and remove the adapter plate
For 133, 254 and 423 size pumps, remove the thrust washers from the rotor/shaft assembly and rotor bearing sleeve assembly
Cartridge Triple -Lip Seal Maintenance
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Seal pre-lubricated with Magnalube high-temperature grease?
REMOVAL
All flush lines or barrier fluid tubes disconnected?
Set screws on the seal collar loosened?
Two (2) fasteners from the seal gland removed?
Cartridge seal slid out of the stuffing box?
INSTALLATION
Rotor shaft and the seal housing bore cleaned?
500 Hourly Internal Gear Pump Lubrication
Warning: Use multi-purpose NLGI #2 grease on all lubrication fittings every 500 hours of operation
Warning: Do not over-grease
Warning: Applications involving extreme temperatures (high or low) may require other types of lubrication
Consult factory for specific lubrication recommendations

Internal Gear Pump Wedgee Packing Maintenance
Warning: Ensure wedgee packing material is chemically compatible with the liquid being pumped
Remove packing gland fasteners
Slide the packing gland along the shaft out of the stuffing box
Remove the packing rings
Remove the two-piece wedge seal
Remove packing retaining washer
Install packing retaining washer into the stuffing box sliding over the shaft
Install the male component of the two-piece wedge seal by spreading apart at the split and slipping over the shaft
Install the female component of the two-piece wedge seal so that both parts fit together like a single unit
Internal Gear Pump Maintenance
Warning: Maintenance should be performed by trained personnel only.
Is the V Series pump clean and ready for inspection?
Is there any frictional wear on internal components of the pump?
If there is frictional wear, adjust the end play to improve pump performance.
Is the pump going to be stored for more than six (6) months?
If the pump is to be stored, drain the pump and apply a light coat of oil to all internal parts to prevent corrosion.
Also, lubricate the fittings and apply grease to the pump shaft.
Rotate the pump shaft by hand one (1) complete revolution every 30 days to circulate the oil.
Are the fastener torque inspected before putting the pump in service after being stored?
