Pre-maintenance safety procedures

Shut off the compressed air line

Disconnect the air line from the pump

Remove diaphragm assemblies from diaphragm rod

Remove manifolds and outer chambers

Remove diaphragm assemblies from diaphragm rod

Avoid using a pipe wrench or similar tool to remove assembly from rod

Use soft jaws in a vise to prevent diaphragm rod damage

Inspect all fasteners for loosening caused by gasket creep

Retighten any loose fasteners to prevent leakage, following the recommended torques stated in the manual

Locate the pump as close to the product being pumped as possible

Keep the suction line length and number of fittings to a minimum

Ensure the suction line diameter is not reduced

Connect the pump air inlet to an air supply with sufficient capacity and pressure to achieve desired performance

Install a pressure regulating valve to ensure air supply pressure does not exceed recommended limits

Is the pump operating erratically or has it stopped?

Inspect the air exhaust muffler for blockage or icing

Clean or de-ice the muffler screen as required

Is there water in the compressed air supply?

Shut off the compressed air line

Disconnect the air line from the pump

Wear approved eye protection and protective clothing

Flush the pump after each use for materials that tend to settle out or solidify

Flush the pump clean prior to disassembly when used for toxic or aggressive fluids

Inspect all fasteners for loosening caused by gasket creep

Retighten loose fasteners to prevent leakage, following recommended torques

Inspect all suction-side gaskets and pipe connections for air leakage

Check all suction screens or strainers and clear any obstructions

Inspect the air exhaust muffler for blockage, icing, or presence of pumped fluid

Inspect the air exhaust piping routing for safe containment in the event of diaphragm rupture
