Ensure the pump is stopped and all valves in suction and discharge are closed.

Verify that all pressure is released from the system.

Confirm that the strainer pot temperature is cool to touch before opening.

Remove trap cover handle ring by turning counterclockwise. Use a rubber mallet if necessary.

Remove and clean the strainer basket, ensuring all holes are clear.

Flush the basket with water and replace it in the trap with the large opening at the pipe connection port.

Inspect the lid O-Ring and clean it. Reinstall on the trap.

Describe any observed cracks, damage, or advanced weathering on the covers

Is any cover loose, cracked, damaged, broken, or missing?

Immediate Actions if Issues Found

Close the pool or spa immediately

Post a notice about the closure

Keep the pool or spa closed until an appropriate certified cover is properly installed

Check the condition of all suction outlet covers

Pump down water level below all inlets to the pool

Remove trap cover and blow accumulated water from the piping system

Cap inlet piping after draining

Remove trap cover and drain the tank body through the drain plugs

Clean pump and trap basket thoroughly

Ensure motor is kept dry and covered

Describe any safety concerns observed during the procedure

Ensure the use of a low pressure (below 5 PSI), high volume blower for air purging

Confirm that the pump is not allowed to freeze

Verify that only propylene glycol is used as antifreeze

Drain all water from pump and piping when expecting freezing temperatures or when storing pump for a long time

Ensure motor is kept dry and covered during storage
