Is the power to the motor turned OFF before draining the pump?

Pump down water level below all inlets to the pool.

Remove trap cover and use low pressure air to blow accumulated water from the piping system.

Cap inlet piping after draining to keep water out of the pipes.

Remove trap cover and drain the tank body through the drain plugs.

Clean pump and trap basket thoroughly; replace trap cover.

Ensure the pump is not operating without water in the strainer pot.

Verify that the strainer pot temperature is cool to touch before opening.

Stop pump and close valves in suction and discharge.

Release all pressure from the system.

Remove trap cover handle ring by turning counterclockwise.

Tap handles gently with a rubber mallet if necessary.

Describe any safety concerns observed during the procedure

Ensure the use of a low pressure (below 5 PSI), high volume blower for air purging

Confirm that the pump is not allowed to freeze

Verify that only propylene glycol is used as antifreeze

Drain all water from pump and piping when expecting freezing temperatures or storing pump for a long time

Ensure motor is kept dry and covered during storage

Inspect all covers for cracks, damage, and advanced weathering.

Is any cover loose, cracked, damaged, broken, or missing?

Replace drain covers as necessary due to deterioration from sunlight, pool chemicals, and weather.

Ensure all suction outlet covers are maintained and replaced if necessary.

Verify all suction outlets have correctly installed, screw-fastened covers in place.
