Is any cover loose, cracked, damaged, broken, or missing?

Immediate Actions if Issues Found

Close the pool or spa immediately

Post a notice about the closure

Keep the pool or spa closed until an appropriate certified cover is properly installed

Check the condition of all suction outlet covers

Is the power to the motor turned OFF before draining the pump?

Pump down water level below all inlets to the pool.

Remove trap cover and use low pressure air to blow accumulated water from the piping system.

Cap inlet piping after draining to keep water out of the pipes.

Remove trap cover and drain the tank body through the drain plugs.

Clean pump and trap basket thoroughly; replace trap cover.

Use only a low pressure (below 5 PSI), high volume blower when air purging the pump, filter, or piping.

Ensure pump does not freeze to avoid damage and voiding warranty.

Do not use anti-freeze solutions (except propylene glycol) in your pool/spa system.

Drain all water from pump and piping when expecting freezing temperatures or when storing pump for a long time.

Keep motor dry and covered during storage.

Avoid covering pump with plastic to prevent condensation/corrosion problems.

Outdoor/Unprotected Installations

Gravity drain system as far as possible.

Ensure the strainer pot temperature is cool to touch before opening.

Confirm suction and discharge valves are open before opening the strainer pot.

Stop pump and close valves in suction and discharge.

Release all pressure from the system.

Remove trap cover handle ring by turning counterclockwise. Tap handles gently with a rubber mallet if necessary.

Remove strainer basket and clean. Ensure all holes in basket are clear and flush basket with water.
