Verify valve type for backpressure test

Is the valve an open lever valve or does it have an exposed spring?

Enter the inlet size of the valve (in inches)

Does the valve exceed 1" inlet size?

Enter the test pressure applied (in psi)

Is the test pressure at least 30 psi?

Apply leak detection solution to gasket joints and vent/drain plugs

Open Lifting Lever (Figure 1.5)

Remove wire seal and slide out button head rivet, releasing lever from cap.

Remove set screw from base of cap and lift cap off bonnet.

Hold the stem with pliers and remove stem jam nut and stem test washer.

Packed Lifting Lever (Figure 1.6)

Remove groove pin from lever and slide lever off the cam.

Place the valve at a suitable height on a clean and strong work surface.

Mount valve vertically in a vise using the flats on the valve body.

Unscrew cap by turning counter-clockwise.

Hold the spring adjusting screw with a smooth jaw wrench and remove the jam nut.

Refer to Figure 1.2 for construction details, and Figures 1.5 and 1.6 for open lever and packed lever cap construction details.

Verify that all parts required are grouped for assembly.

Visually inspect all parts for cleanliness and imperfections, especially the body and disc seats.

Check the guide for dirt or scale in exit holes and undercuts, ensuring the guide surface is in good condition.

Lubricate all threaded surfaces with Bostik Never-Seez or equivalent.

Lightly coat sealing surfaces with a pipe thread sealant such as Never Seez® or equivalent.

Mount the valve on the test stand

Attach a blind test fixture for air, gas & vapor service valves

Enter the cold differential test pressure (CDTP)

Enter the test pressure to be held
