Lubrication of Dodge Fan Bearings — Ball Bearing Pillow Block

Select the shaft diameter and speed (RPM) for lubrication schedule

Is it safe to re-lubricate while running?

Re-lubricate while running until some purging occurs at seals, if safe

Adjust lubrication frequency based on condition of purged grease

Note hours of operation, temperature, and surrounding conditions affecting re-lubrication frequency

Double the lubrication frequency for 24-hour operation

Select the grease for lubrication

Clean the screen of regulators with vent terminals

Remove scale from burner plates

Ensure holes on burner plates and gas orifices are clear

Check set screws for looseness on the shaft

Tighten loose set screws where required

Record any issues or observations

Is the bearing rotating slowly during lubrication?

Use lithium base lubricant only

Avoid overgreasing the bearings

Verify grease quantity by shaft diameter

Are extended lubrication lines provided?

Refer to fan and/or bearing manufacturers’ literature for additional information

Is the bearing temperature under 158°F (70°C)?

Is the bearing rotating slowly during lubrication?

Is a lithium base lubricant used?

Is the grease quantity appropriate for the shaft diameter?

Select the shaft diameter and corresponding grease quantity

Are extended lubrication lines provided?

Check the environmental conditions
