Inspect for damage or abnormal wear

Inspect lip hinge pins and rear hinge pins

Check full range toe guards for free movement

Inspect blower motor housing, filter, hose, and hardware

Inspect control box and conduit for damage

Check bumpers for more than 1” of wear

Inspect side and rear weather seals

Fully raise the platform and engage the maintenance prop in the service position.

Manually raise the lip and engage lip maintenance prop.

Adjust stop bolt (C) as necessary.

Disengage lip maintenance prop.

Ensure two people are present if the dock leveler is not equipped with a tethered remote.

Use an additional means to support the dock platform and lip, such as a boom truck or fork truck.

Lock all electrical disconnects in the OFF position after raising the platform and engaging the maintenance prop.

Post safety warnings and barricade the work area at dock level and ground level.

Wear a hard hat or other applicable head protection when working under or around the dock leveler.

Stand clear of platform lip when working in front of the dock leveler.

Lip Latch Spring Tension Adjustment

Ensure two people are present: one to operate the unit and another to engage the maintenance prop.

Use an additional means to support the dock platform and lip, such as a boom truck, fork truck, or stabilizing bar.

Sensor and Target Alignment Inspection

Raise the leveler and position the maintenance prop behind the header.

Is the target parallel to the face of the sensor with a gap of 1/4" when the lip is in the stored position?

Loosen the nuts around the sensor body to adjust the sensor and achieve the correct gap.

Inspect the lip assist chain and shackle for any visible damage or wear.

Has the lip assist chain or shackle been replaced recently?

Determine Above Dock Service Range

Enter the current number of links between the lip assist assembly and the shackle.

Adjustment Based on Maintenance Prop Position

Can the maintenance prop be raised to the backside of the platform header with the dock leveler in the raised position?

Can the maintenance prop rotate out past the platform header with the dock leveler in the raised position?
