Fully raise the platform and engage the maintenance prop in the service position.

Manually raise the lip and engage lip maintenance prop.

Adjust stop bolt (C) as necessary.

Disengage lip maintenance prop.

Inspect the lip assist chain and shackle for any visible damage or wear.

Has the lip assist chain or shackle been replaced recently?

Determine Above Dock Service Range

Enter the current number of links between the lip assist assembly and the shackle.

Can the maintenance prop be raised to the backside of the platform header with the dock leveler in the raised position?

Can the maintenance prop rotate out past the platform header with the dock leveler in the raised position?

Ensure two people are present if the dock leveler is not equipped with a tethered remote.

Use an additional means to support the dock platform and lip, such as a boom truck or fork truck.

Lock all electrical disconnects in the OFF position after raising the platform and engaging the maintenance prop.

Post safety warnings and barricade the work area at dock level and ground level.

Wear a hard hat or other applicable head protection when working under or around the dock leveler.

Stand clear of platform lip when working in front of the dock leveler.

Raise the leveler and position the maintenance prop behind the header

Is an additional means of support in place for the dock platform and lip?

Sensor and Target Alignment Inspection

Inspect if the target is parallel to the face of the sensor with a gap of 1/4" when the lip is in the stored position

Loosen the nuts around the sensor body

Move the sensor to achieve the correct gap

Operate the dock leveler through the complete operating cycle to maintain lubrication

Inspect the platform hinge area

Are the hinge areas free of dirt and debris?

Inspect the area under the platform, around and under the air bellows

Is there any build-up of foreign material under the platform?
