Operate the dock leveler through the complete operating cycle to maintain lubrication

Inspect Platform and Hinge Areas

Inspect the platform hinge area in the full below-dock position

Ensure platform hinge and lip hinge areas are free of dirt and debris

Inspect Under Platform and Air Bellows

Inspect the area under the platform, around and under the air bellows for cracks or damage

Ensure no build-up of foreign material under the platform

Inspect Warning Decals and Placards

Inspect for damage/abnormal wear

Lubricate with light weight machine oil

Apply grease to lip hinge grease fittings if equipped

Lubricate lip assist rod pin with white lithium grease

Ensure two people are present if the dock leveler is not equipped with a tethered remote.

Use an additional means to support the dock platform and lip, such as a boom truck or fork truck.

Lock all electrical disconnects in the OFF position after raising the platform and engaging the maintenance prop.

Post safety warnings and barricade the work area at dock level and ground level.

Wear a hard hat or other applicable head protection when working under or around the dock leveler.

Stand clear of platform lip when working in front of the dock leveler.

Preparation and Safety Measures

Raise the leveler and position the maintenance prop behind the header

Ensure two people are present if the dock leveler is not equipped with a tethered remote

Use additional means to support the dock platform and lip

Sensor and Target Alignment Inspection

Is the target parallel to the face of the sensor with a gap of 1/4" when the lip is in the stored position?

Loosen the nuts around the sensor body

Inspect the lip assist chain and shackle for any visible damage or wear.

Has the lip assist chain or shackle been replaced recently?

Determine Current Link Quantity

Enter the current number of links between the lip assist assembly and the shackle.

Adjust Link Quantity Based on Leveler Size

Adjust the number of links according to the leveler size

Check Maintenance Prop Position
