3 Monthly Pump Bearing Lubrication
Safety Precautions
Disconnect and lockout electrical power or engine drive before maintenance
Relieve system pressure before maintenance
Flush and decontaminate system if pumping hazardous or toxic fluids
Pump Lubrication
Ensure pump is not running before lubrication
Select the grease to be used
Remove the grease relief fittings (76A) from the bearing covers (27, 27A)
Slowly apply grease with a hand gun until grease begins to escape from the grease relief fitting port (76)
Pump Flushing
Initial Setup
Ensure the discharge valve is open
Ensure the intake valve is closed
Flushing Process
Run the pump with the discharge valve open and the intake valve closed
Bleed air into the pump through the intake gauge plug hole or through a larger auxiliary fitting in the intake piping
Pump air for 30 second intervals to clean out most of the pumpage
Run a system compatible flushing fluid through the pump for one minute to clear out the remainder of the original pumpage

Ensure safety precautions are in place
Increase Pressure Setting
Remove the relief valve cap and gasket
Loosen the locknut, if equipped
Turn the adjusting screw inward, or clockwise
Inspect the R/V cap gasket and replace as required
Reattach the R/V cap gasket and cap
Decrease Pressure Setting
Gear Unit Maintenance
Vent Activation and Inspection
Check for a vent on the gear unit and remove the sealing plug if applicable
Surface Protection Removal
Remove all anti-corrosive metal protectant from bare metal surfaces
Lubrication
Drain the reducer and refill it with the proper type and amount of lubricant
Check the lubricant level and type to ensure the gear unit is filled correctly based on mounting position
Initial Operation Observation
Observe start-up and initial operation for issues
O-ring And Mechanical Seal Replacement
O-ring Replacement
Replace disturbed or removed O-rings
Were PTFE O-rings used?
Heat PTFE O-rings in hot water before installation
Mechanical Seal Inspection and Replacement
Is there excessive leakage from the tell-tale hole in the bearing cover?
Has the mechanical seal been leaking?
Replace the entire mechanical seal if leakage is detected
