Pump Flushing
Initial Pump Flushing
Open the discharge valve and close the intake valve
Bleed air into the pump through the intake gauge plug hole or a larger auxiliary fitting
Pump air for 30 second intervals
Flushing with Compatible Fluid
Run a system compatible flushing fluid through the pump
Run the flushing fluid for one minute
Final Flushing and Disposal
Repeat initial flushing procedure to remove the flushing fluid
Relief Valve Adjustment
Relief Valve Setting and Adjustment
Ensure safety precautions are in place
Increase Pressure Setting
Remove the relief valve cap and gasket
Loosen the locknut, if equipped
Turn the adjusting screw inward (clockwise)
Inspect the R/V cap gasket and replace if required
Reattach the R/V cap gasket and cap
Decrease Pressure Setting
3 Monthly Pump Bearing Lubrication
Safety Precautions
Disconnect and lockout electrical power or engine drive before maintenance
Relieve system pressure before performing pump service or maintenance
Flush and decontaminate system if pumping hazardous or toxic fluids
Pre-Lubrication Checks
Ensure grease relief fittings (76A) are functioning properly
Verify inboard bearings of GNX(H) models are greased if shipped without gear reducer attached
Pump Bearing Lubrication
Remove the grease relief fittings (76A) from the bearing covers (27, 27A)
Gear Unit Maintenance
Vent Activation and Inspection
Check for a vent on the gear unit and remove the sealing plug if applicable
Ensure sealed vents are activated to prevent excessive pressure build-up
Surface Protection Removal
Remove all anti-corrosive metal protectant from bare metal surfaces
Lubrication
Drain the reducer
Refill the reducer with the proper type and amount of lubricant
Check the lubricant level and type to ensure the gear unit is filled correctly based on mounting position
Vane Replacement
VANE REPLACEMENT NOTICE
Preparation
Flush the pump per instructions in this manual
Drain and relieve pressure from the pump and system as required
Disassembly
Remove the head assembly from the outboard (nondrive) side of the pump according to steps 5 - 8 in the 'Pump Disassembly' section of this manual
Remove the head capscrews (21) and gently pry the head away from the cylinder
Slide the head off the shaft
Remove and discard components
