Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source

Verify that the pump has cooled down to a safe temperature

Check the condition of the following components

Record the vibration level of the pump

Record the noise level of the pump

Is the pump operating within the specified pressure range?

Ensure the pump has been stored in a clean, dry place prior to operation.

Have the bearings been watched for about an hour after pump start to ensure proper operation?

Thoroughly clean out the bearing housing if the bearing brackets are removed for maintenance.

Ensure the bearing housing is protected against dust and contaminants.

Reassemble the pump using new bearings and lip seals.

Use grease fittings to fill the bearing cavities.

Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source.

Loosen the packing slightly to avoid air leaks.

Gradually tighten the gland bolts evenly while the pump is running.

Ensure the gland is not over-tightened to prevent packing compression.

Check if the rotating element can be turned by hand to ensure proper packing adjustment.

Measure the drippage from the stuffing box (drops per minute).

Disconnect and lockout power before servicing

Ensure electrical connections are made by a qualified electrician

Replace bearings and grease if the pump has been in a flooded condition

Evaluate the motor by a qualified motor shop before putting it back into service

Clean and inspect mechanical seals, stuff boxes, and packing rings

Replace mechanical seals, stuff boxes, and packing rings if needed

Replace couplings that require lubrication
