Compressor Inspection
Compressor Shaft Bearing Clearance Inspections
Check that all necessary tools and equipment are in place
Ensure force applied does not exceed 300 to 500 lbs at point of contact
Determine Maximum Applied Force
Main Rotor Bearing Axial Clearance Inspection
Remove center member as per Drive Coupling Replacement procedure
Install and zero dial indicator on compressor frame
Record measurement after pushing coupling towards motor
Record measurement after pushing input shaft towards compressor
Slide Valve Command Shaft Assembly Replacement
Removal
Shut down and isolate compressor unit
Remove actuator
Remove components securing the command shaft assembly
Remove the command shaft and mounting plate from the compressor
Installation
Install a new o-ring (446) into the groove on the compressor discharge manifold
Apply clean compressor lubricating oil on the o-ring
Install the command shaft onto the compressor discharge manifold
1 Daily Compressor Unit Maintenance
Check oil levels
Check all pressure and temperature readings
Check micronic oil filter inlet and outlet pressures for excessive pressure drop
Is the pressure drop across the micronic oil filter greater than 45 psi?
Clean strainers each time filter cartridge is replaced
Check compressor sound for abnormal noises
Check shaft seals for excessive oil leakage
Is the oil leakage from shaft seals within the normal range (6 to 15 drops per hour)?
Oil Separator Heater Cartridge Replacement
Parts Required
Ensure all required parts are available
Removal
Isolate the compressor unit
Drain oil from oil separator
Select the type of heater cartridge
Remove heater cartridge from thermowell
Heater Cartridges with Turck connectors
Disconnect Turck connector
Drive Coupling Replacement
Safety Precautions
Open any other valves that may trap liquids to prevent serious injury and/or damage to equipment.
Follow local lock-out/tag-out procedure.
Ensure compressors are depressurized before attempting to do any work on them.
Removal of Type C Sure-Flex Coupling
Shut down the compressor unit, refer to Stopping/Restarting procedure in Section 4.
Turn disconnect switches to the OFF position for the compressor unit and oil pump motor starter, if equipped.
Allow compressor, motor and surrounding components to cool prior to servicing.
Remove C-flange access cover.
