1 Yearly Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
CAUTION: Always be alert for any indications of damage or inoperativeness in the extinguisher.
Extinguisher is in its designated place, readily accessible and immediately available in the event of fire
Extinguisher removed from its wall hanger and hanger is firmly fastened to mounting surface
Extinguisher cleaned to remove dirt, grease and foreign material
Tank inspected for corrosion, abrasion, or dents in accordance with CGA Visual Inspection Standards, Pamphlets C-6 and C-6.1
Extinguisher visually inspected for missing, substituted or broken parts
Cylinder checked for date of manufacture
10, 15, or 20 lb Extinguishers Only: Horn/hose assembly removed and inspected
5 lb Extinguisher Only: Horn assembly removed and inspected
1 Monthy Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
WARNING: When performing recharge, use only those materials specified on the extinguisher nameplate. The use of other recharging materials may reduce the efficiency, cause malfunction, or result in rupture of the extinguisher that could cause injury to the operator

Is the extinguisher in its designated place, clearly visible and accessible for immediate use?
Is the visual inspection seal on the valve lever intact?
Enter the weight of the extinguisher
Is there any physical damage, corrosion or other impairments on the extinguisher?
Is the nameplate readable?
Is there any cuts, severe weather checking, abrasion, cracks or deformed exterior on the horn or horn/hose assembly?
Are the hose couplings tight, free from corrosion or cracks?
Is the horn free from obstruction?
Fire Extinguisher Recharge
WARNING: When discharging carbon dioxide for recharge purposes, it should always be discharged to an outside atmosphere.
Discharge all remaining CO2 from extinguisher
Check cylinder shoulder for date of manufacture.
Remove horn/hose assembly
Attach proper recharge adaptor to valve
Place extinguisher on scale. Attach spring clamp to hold extinguisher valve in open position
Connect CO2 supply line to recharge adaptor
Check nameplate on cylinder for proper charge (weight) of CO2
