1 Daily Welder Maintenance
No combustible materials in the welding or cutting area or around the machine
No debris, dust, dirt, or materials that could block the air flow to the machine
Electrode cables inspected for any slits, punctures in the cable jacket, or any condition that would affect the proper operation of the machine
Sign off on the daily welder maintenance
Cable Cleaning
Cable removed from the wire feeder and laid out straight on the floor
Contact tip removed from the gun
Low pressure air used to gently blow out the cable liner from the gas diffuser end
Cable flexed over its entire length and blown out again
Procedure repeated until no more dirt comes out
Sign off on the cable cleaning
Drive Rolls and Guide Tubes Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance check requires trained personnel with PPE!
Wire drive mechanism inspected after every coil of wire?
Drive mechanism cleaned with low pressure compressed air?
Was solvent used for cleaning the idle roll?
If solvent was used, report the issue to the maintenance team and stop the procedure
Select the wire size used
Drive roll changed if a different wire size was used?
Sign off on the drive rolls and guide tubes maintenance
Gun Handle Assembly Inspection
Warning: This inspection requires trained personnel with PPE!
Internal parts of the gun handle inspected
Gun handle consists of two halves held together with a collar on each end
Turn the collars approximately 60 degrees counterclockwise
Collar reaches a stop
Collar pulled off the gun handle
NOTE: If the collars are difficult to turn, position the gun handle against a corner, place a screwdriver against the tab on the collar and give the screwdriver a sharp blow to turn the collar past an internal locking rib
Sign off on the gun handle assembly inspection
Liner Replacement
Remove the gas nozzle and nozzle insulator
Locate the set screw in the gas diffuser which is used to hold the old liner in place
Loosen the set screw with a 5/64\ (2.0mm) Allen wrench"
Remove the gas diffuser from the gun tube
Lay the gun and cable out straight on a flat surface
Loosen the set screw located in the brass connector at the feeder end of the cable and pull the liner out of the cable
Insert a new untrimmed liner into the connector end of the cable
Check the liner bushing stencil to make sure it is the appropriate one for the wire size being used
Fully seat the liner bushing into the connector
