Spark Plug Maintenance
Disconnect spark plug cable (A) and remove spark plug (B)
Scrape or wire brush carbon deposits from spark plug
Inspect spark plug for
Set spark plug gap to 0.6-0.7 mm (0.024-0.028 in.)
Connect spark plug cable (A) to spark plug (B)
Ground spark plug against bare engine metal
When grounded against bare metal, the plug should produce a hot, blue spark (C) while the recoil starter rope is being pulled
If replacement is needed, use spark plug

Adjust carburetor
Turn low speed screw (A) clockwise until lightly seated, then back screw out one turn
Turn high speed screw (B) clockwise until lightly seated, then back out 1-1/4 turns
Start engine and warm it up for 2-3 minutes
Turn idle speed screw (C) clockwise until cutting head begins to turn, then back screw out 1/2 turn
Adjust low speed screw (A) to obtain maximum consistent idle and smooth acceleration
Readjust idle screw (C)
Adjust high speed screw (B) until you hear a very slight four-cycling sound at full throttle under no load
