Nylon Tube Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance check requires trained personnel with PPE!
Identify harmful defects such as breakage, crush, perforation, etc.
Describe the position of the defect on the nylon tube
Cutting face of the nylon tube is smooth without any burr and that the cutting face is 90º±5º to the axis of the nylon tube.
Wind the inserting margin taping according to the following table. (In the same way as in the case of one-touch type connector )
Remount the connector according to the dismounting and remounting procedures of the nylon tube.
Securely fix the repair connector with a clamp to the nylon tube protected with corrugated tube existing around it.
If corrugated tube does not exist around it, add the corrugated tube.
If repair work is difficult to carry out for the reason of layout or for the reason of influencing on the external appearance such as on the air tank or that the tube is relatively short and its replacement can be done easily, replace the nylon tube with a new one.
Vertical Exhaust Tail Pipe Assembling
Warning: Ensure the vehicle is parked, the parking brake is applied, and wheel chocks are placed at the front or rear tires.
Engine stopped and tail pipe cooled adequately?
Warning: Be careful as the tail pipe installation location is at a high position.
Foreign matter dropped inside the tail pipe? If yes, contact a Hino dealer.
Remove insulator (6 bolts).
Temporarily attach the clamp at No.2 tail pipe. Do not tighten the clamp.
Insert No. 1 tail pipe inside No.2 tail pipe until it touches the shoulder on the inside of the No. 2 tail pipe.
If fitting is tight, loosen the U-bolt and tighten it with specified torque (4 nuts).
Hand tighten No. 1 tail pipe with the U-bolt.
Exhaust System Maintenance
Warning: The exhaust system becomes very hot during operation. Ensure to observe the following instructions to prevent unexpected problems.
Clearances from a body or equipment observed
Enter the clearance between the fuel tank, fuel pipes and hot components of the exhaust system in mm
Heat shields or insulators fitted if clearance is less than 200mm
Fuel piping arranged so that no fuel will come into contact with the hot components of the exhaust system if a fuel line ruptures and fuel leaks out
Connectors of the fuel pipes not installed at the hot components or above of the exhaust system
Clearances from chassis parts other than fuel system parts maintained
Heat insulators or heat shields fitted if clearances cannot be maintained
