4 Yearly Run Capacitor / Motor Maintenance
Change the run capacitor as per the maintenance plan
Replace the run capacitor using the instructions supplied with the capacitor kit
Refer to Table 12, Section 7.3 for additional guidance
Test the earth (ground) continuity of the pump-motor
Is the earth (ground) continuity less than 0.1 Ω?
Test the insulation resistance of the pump-motor
Is the insulation resistance greater than 10 MΩ?
Replace the motor if it fails the continuity or insulation resistance tests
1 Yearly Motor Fan-Cover / Enclosure Cleaning
Preparation
Switch off the pump
Disconnect the pump from the electrical supply
Cleaning Process
Use a dry cloth to remove dirt from the fan-cover
Use a brush to remove deposits from the enclosure
Post-Cleaning Inspection
Is the fan-cover clean and free of dirt?
Is the enclosure free of deposits?
3 Monthly Oil Replacement
Operate the pump for approximately ten minutes to warm the oil, then switch off the pump.
Isolate the pump from the electrical supply and disconnect it from the vacuum system.
Remove the oil filler-plug (1).
Drain the oil from the pump
Place a suitable block under the pump-motor to tilt the pump and place a suitable container under the oil drain-plug (gravity drain) (11).
Remove the oil drain-plug and allow the oil to drain into the container.
If the oil is dirty or contaminated
Refit the oil drain-plug and pour clean oil into the pump.
Reconnect the pump to the electrical supply and operate the pump for about 5 to 10 minutes.
1 Monthly Oil-Level Check
Pre-Check Precautions
Is the pump switched off and isolated from the electrical supply before pouring oil?
Oil-Level Inspection
Check the oil-level in the oil sight-glass (12) and ensure it is between the MAX and MIN level marks.
Is the oil-level near to or below the MIN level mark?
Oil Adjustment
Remove the oil filler-plug (1) and pour more oil into the reservoir until the oil reaches the MAX level mark.
Is the oil-level above the MAX mark after refilling?
Remove the oil drain-plug (11) and drain the excess oil from the pump.
1 Yearly Gas-Ballast Filter Cleaning
Preparation
Ensure the gas-ballast filter is not connected to a gas supply or valve.
Filter Removal
Remove the retainer circlip (3).
Remove the protective wire mesh (2) and filter elements (1).
Cleaning
Wash the wire mesh and filter in a suitable cleaning solution.
Allow the wire mesh and filter to dry completely before replacing them in the pump.
