Check water treatment system components

Wipe down external surfaces of unit

Shut unit down and open main disconnect

Inspect control panel for loose wires, burned contacts, and signs of overheated wires

Unit Restart and Performance Check

Check performance of controls and time rate of loading and unloading

Is the refrigerant charge level in the flash tank feed line sight glass proper?

Check the current oil level in the compressor

Is the oil return visible in the compressor?

Drain the old oil from the compressor

Refill the compressor with new oil

Is the oil level within the recommended range after replacement?

Record full load performance data on the log sheet

Enter the current approach temperature for the evaporator

Enter the current approach temperature for the condenser

Is the approach temperature more than 2°F above the clean condition?

Have water treatment specialists recommended chemicals for cleaning?

Rinse the system thoroughly after chemical cleaning

Has the phase control relay tripped?

Did the phase control relay trip again after resetting?

Call your electric utility to investigate the problem

Circuit Breaker and Motor Overload Relay Inspection

Has the circuit breaker or motor overload relay tripped?

Do not reset and try to run the compressor again

Inspect for physical disfigurement of the gasket

Check for signs of deterioration

Does the gasket need renewal based on inspection results?

Document the inspection results
