5 Yearly Relief Valve Replacement

Check mark

Pressure Relief Valve Replacement

Check mark

Current condenser designs use two relief valves separated by a three-way shutoff valve (one set). This three-way valve allows either relief valve to be shut off, but at no time can both be shut off.

Check mark

In the event one of the relief valves are leaking in the two valve set, these procedures must be followed:

Check mark

• If the valve closest to the valve stem is leaking, back seat the three-way valve all the way, closing the port to the leaking pressure relief valve. Remove and replace the faulty relief valve.

Check mark

The three-way shutoff valve must remain either fully back seated or fully forward to normal operation. If the relief valve farthest from the valve stem is leaking, front seat the three-way valve and replace the relief valve as stated above.

Check mark

• The refrigerant must be pumped down into the condenser before the evaporator relief valve can be removed.;

Check mark

Is the chiller subject to freezing temperatures?

Check mark

If yes, drain the condenser and chiller of all water.

Check mark

Use dry air to force all water out of the condenser.

Check mark

Remove condenser heads.

Check mark

Ensure no water remains in the piping and vessels.

Check mark

Consider forced circulation of antifreeze through the water circuits.

Check mark

Have measures been taken to prevent the shutoff valve in the water supply line from being accidentally turned on?

Check mark

If a cooling tower is used, has the water pump been drained and left open to prevent water accumulation?

1 Weekly Refrigerant Leak Test

Check mark

Warning: Do not use oxygen or a mixture of R-22 and air to build up pressure as an explosion can occur causing serious personal injury.

Check mark

Enter the initial pressure of the system in psig

Check mark

Enter the pressure after adding refrigerant in psig

Check mark

Enter the pressure after adding dry nitrogen in psig

Check mark

Did the electronic leak detector find any leaks?

Check mark

If leaks are found in welded or brazed joints, or it is necessary to replace a gasket, relieve the test pressure in the system before proceeding.

Check mark

Were any leaks found in welded or brazed joints?

Check mark

Was it necessary to replace a gasket?

Check mark

After making any necessary repair, the system must be evacuated as described in the following section.

Check mark

Is there any oil leak in the system?

Check mark

If there is an oil leak, repair work is necessary.

Check mark

Enter the amount of oil added to the system.

Check mark

Upload a photo of the hand pump connected to the backseat port of the valve.
