Inspect the condition of all bearings

Record customer settings for bearing temperature sensors

Coupling Arrangement Inspection

Remove the DE adapter screen and cover to access the coupling

Check that the coupling discs are not damaged, cracked or distorted, and the coupling disc holes are not elongated

Were any coupling discs damaged?

Replace the complete set of discs if any are damaged

Check tightness of bolts fixing the coupling discs to the engine flywheel

Disconnect the cables from the X+ (F1) and XX- (F2) terminals of the AVR

Ensure no excitation voltage supply to the exciter stator

Run the generator set in de-excited state

Ensure air flows freely through the alternator

Operate the anti-condensation heater (if fitted)

Direct hot air from electrical fan heaters into the alternator air inlet

Ensure each heat source is at least 300mm away from the windings

Follow the Remove Non-Drive End section to access NDE bearing

Is the DE bearing to be replaced?

Turn off the anti-condensation heater (if fitted) and isolate from supply.

Remove the lower air inlet cover.

Remove the terminal box lid and side panel (left hand, viewed from NDE)

Environmental and Cleanliness Check

Check environmental conditions and cleanliness

Measure ambient temperature inside

Measure ambient temperature outside

Check complete machine for damage, loose parts and earth bonds

Check guards, screens, warning and safety labels
