1 Daily Vehicle Test
Test your vehicle in an uncongested area
Service panel door is closed
Platform does not elevate above 20 inches with gates open
Steering is smooth
Vehicle drives slowly in both directions
Vehicle drives through the full speed range, in forward and reverse
In forward, and with platform lowered, the speed should be slower with gates closed
Stopping distance in forward and reverse is safe
Caution, travel speed, load weight and floor conditions can affect stopping distance
1 Daily Vehicle Check
Check your vehicle before starting work. You must make sure your vehicle is safe, both for you and for people around you. IF ANYTHING DOESN’T LOOK OR FEEL RIGHT, DON’T DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE. REPORT THE PROBLEM TO YOUR SUPERVISOR.
Are the batteries charged?
Are all wheels in good condition?
Any signs of leaks into or under the vehicle?
Is the 'beeper' and all display lights working when the key is turned to ON? Did you try the horn?
Does the Emergency Disconnect button work?
Are all options working if your vehicle is so equipped?
Any damage on your vehicle that could be a hazard to you or to people around you?
Check the area where you'll be working. Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
Battery Maintenance
- Charge batteries
1. Don’t charge or service the batteries unless you are trained and authorized
2. Charge batteries in areas designated for that use. Do not expose the vehicle to moisture or snow while charging. Don’t try to charge a frozen battery
3. Wear protective eyewear, gloves and clothing when servicing the batteries
DANGER!
Batteries can produce explosive gas. Do not smoke, use open flame, or create an arc or sparks near this battery. Ventilate well when in an enclosed area and when charging
This battery contains Sulfuric Acid which causes severe burns. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or clothing. In case of contact, flush immediately and thoroughly with water. Get medical attention if your eyes are affected
TO CHARGE THE BATTERIES:
1. Turn the vehicle off or push the Emergency Disconnect button
