12000 Hourly Skid Steer Loader Maintenance
Warning: Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to relieve the pressure.
NOTICE: Mixing ELC with other products will reduce the effectiveness of the coolant. This could result in damage to cooling system components.
Note: The machine was shipped from the factory with Extended Life Coolant (ELC) in the cooling system.
Drain the coolant whenever the coolant is dirty or whenever the coolant is foaming.
Allow the machine to cool before you change the coolant.
Open the engine access door and raise the radiator guard.
Slowly loosen the radiator cap in order to relieve system pressure. Remove the radiator cap.
Locate the drain for the coolant system on the left side of the C3.8engine by the oil filter. Locate the drain for the coolant on the right side for the C3.3B engine. Use the attached drain hose on the valve.
Remove the access panel under the rear of the machine. Pull the drain hose through the access hole.

Cooling System Coolant Sample (Level 2) - Obtain
NOTICE: Always use a designated pump for oil sampling, and use a separate designated pump for coolant sampling. Using the same pump for both types of samples may contaminate the samples that are being drawn. This contaminate may cause a false analysis and an incorrect interpretation that could lead to concerns by both dealers and customers.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual,
“Access Doors and Covers” for the location of the service points.
Warning: Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to relieve the pressure.
Obtain the sample of the coolant from the radiator. When the system is cool, slowly remove the radiator cap (2).
Note: Do not take the sample from the Coolant Overflow Reservoir.
Obtain the sample of the coolant as close as possible to the recommended sampling interval. Supplies for collecting samples can be obtained from your Cat dealer. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant Sample (Level 1) - Obtain” for the guidelines for proper sampling of the coolant.
Submit the sample for Level 2 analysis.
