Tighten the hold-downs for the battery in order to prevent the batteries from moving during machine operation.

Personal injury may occur from failure to properly service the batteries.

Batteries give off flammable fumes that can ex-plode.; Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts the skin or eyes.

Prevent sparks near the batteries. Sparks could cause vapors to explode.; Do not allow jumper cable ends to contact each other or the engine.; Improper jumper cable connections can cause an explosion.

Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.

1. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.

Engine Air Filter Service Indicator - Inspect

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, mainte-nance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product.

Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat ® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Obtained a sample of the engine oil through the dipstick tube?

Change the oil while the machine is parked on flat ground. Lower all attachments to the ground.
