1000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Axle Oil Rear Change
Warning: Ensure to wear appropriate PPE and have a suitable container for oil disposal.
Remove the differential drain plug
Drain the oil into a suitable container
Remove the differential level/fill plug
Clean and install the drain plug
Add the proper oil to the differential. Maintain the level of the oil to the bottom of the hole for the differential level/fill plug.
Clean the filler plug
Install the filler plug
Sign off on the axle oil rear change
1000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Cooling System Pressure Cap Maintenance
Open the engine compartment
Locate the cooling system pressure cap on the top of the radiator
Warning: Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns. Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Was the cooling system pressure cap removed slowly to relieve pressure?
Is the cooling system pressure cap free of foreign material, deposits, and damage?

Was the cooling system pressure cap installed back correctly?
Close the engine compartment
Sign off on the cooling system pressure cap maintenance
1000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Engine Valve Lash and Injector Fuel Timing Maintenance
Refer to Service Manual, KENR3600 for the correct procedures when you check engine valve lash and/or injector Fuel Timing.
Note: Make sure that qualified service personnel check the injector Fuel Timing. If an adjustment is necessary, make sure that qualified service personnel adjust the injector Fuel Timing. Special tools and training are required.
Note: The correct Fuel Timing specification is shown on the Engine Information Plate. Fuel timing specifications will be different with each engine application and with each power rating.
Consult your Caterpillar dealer for the complete adjustment procedure.
Sign off on the engine valve lash and injector fuel timing maintenance
1000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Final Drive Planetary (Axle) Oil Change
Position one final drive so that the oil fill/drain plug is at the bottom.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “General Hazard Information” for information on Containing Fluid Spillage.
Remove the oil fill/drain plug. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Clean the plug and inspect the O-ring seal. If wear or damage is evident, replace the oil fill/drain plug and/or the O-ring seal.
Install the oil fill/drain plug.
Rotate the final drive so that the oil fill/drain plug is horizontal.
Fill the final drive to the bottom of the opening on the oil fill/drain plug. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Lubricant Viscosities” and Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Capacities (Refill)”.
Install the oil fill/drain plug.
Perform Step 1 to Step 7 on the other final drive. Use a different container for the oil so that the oil samples from the final drives will be separate.
1000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Final Drive Planetary (Axle) Oil Sampling
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, “General Hazard Information” for information that pertains to fluid spillage.
