Viscometer Spindle Calibration
Preparation
Place the viscosity standard fluid in the proper container into the water bath.
Lower the DV-II+Pro into measurement position with guard leg if LV or RV series Viscometer is used.
Spindle Attachment
Attach the spindle to the Viscometer.
If using a disk-shaped spindle, was it immersed at an angle to avoid trapping air bubbles?
Immersion and Temperature Stabilization
Immerse the viscosity standard fluid and spindle in the bath for a minimum of 1 hour, stirring periodically.
Check and record the temperature of the viscosity standard fluid after 1 hour.

Preparation for Calibration
Connect the water jacket to the water bath
Is the water stabilized at the proper temperature?
Calibration Procedure
Enter the amount of viscosity standard fluid used
Place the sample chamber into the water jacket
Cone/Plate Viscometer Calibration
Mechanically adjust the setting of the cone spindle to the plate
Determine the correct sample volume for the selected spindle
Select a viscosity standard fluid
Remove the sample cup and place the viscosity standard fluid into the cup
Wait for temperature equilibrium after placing the fluid
Connect the sample cup to the Viscometer and wait for temperature equilibrium
Measure the viscosity and record the Viscometer reading in % torque and centipoise (cP)
Ensure the spindle rotates at least five times before taking a viscosity reading
Select a viscosity standard fluid within the range of 5 cP to 5000 cP
Viscometer Spiral Adapter Calibration
Initial Setup
Place the viscosity standard fluid in the proper container into the water bath.
Attach the spindle and chamber to the viscometer
Measurement Preparation
Lower the DV-II+Pro into measurement position and operate at 50 or 60 RPM until the chamber is fully flooded.
Immerse the viscosity standard fluid and spindle in the bath for a minimum of 1 hour, stirring periodically.
Temperature and Viscosity Check
Check the temperature of the viscosity standard fluid with an accurate thermometer.
Is the fluid at test temperature (+/- 0.1°C of the specified temperature, normally 25°C)?

Put the proper amount of HT viscosity standard fluid into the HT-2 sample chamber
Place the sample chamber into the Thermo Container
