Is the circulating pump properly sized for the application?

Oil the three oil cups (2 on the motor, 1 on the pump) as instructed on the oil tube supplied with the unit

Add 2 or 3 teaspoonfuls in bearing oil cups

Add 10 or 12 drops in the motor oil cups

Ensure the boiler is turned off and cooled down

Verify that all necessary tools and cleaning solutions are available

Add the recommended percentage of cleaning solution to the boiler system

Fire and circulate the system for about one hour

Turn off the boiler and allow it to cool

Flush the system with fresh water until all cleaning solution is removed

Ignition System Safety Shutoff Devices Check

Close the pilot adjusting valve on the left side of the manifold

Did the main burners and pilot extinguish within four seconds?

Did the spark igniter on the pilot assembly begin sparking?

If System Does Not Operate Correctly

Discontinue gas supply by closing main manual shutoff

Call a qualified serviceman to correct the situation and describe the issue

Inspect all safety devices including low water cutoffs for proper operation

Low Water Cutoff Device Maintenance

Flush the low water cutoff device of the float type

Ensure water softening equipment is operational

Check for lime build-up in the inlet/outlet manifold through the pressure relief valve tapping

Is there a 5°F change in the normal temperature rise through the boiler?

Obtain UN•LIME from dealer or distributor

Read the instructions on the label of the UN•LIME container

Ensure all necessary equipment is made of copper or brass

Follow the typical piping arrangement for gravity deliming as shown in Figure 29
