SHE Hydrostatic Testing
TESTING
Ensure all parts are in place before testing
Is the face of the SHE body held down by a rigid beam or other device?
Secure the beam with hookbolts and weld bead as per diagram
Enter the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP)
Calculate and enter the maximum test pressure
Conduct hydrostatic test on one side of the unit
Is hydrostatic testing practical?
Consult Alfa Laval if air testing is considered
SHE Startup Check
STARTING UP
Retighten hookbolt assemblies in a diagonally opposite sequence
Enter the torque value used for retightening
Which media is cooler and should be admitted first?
Is the fluid nearest ambient temperature admitted first?
Were the pumps started against closed valves?
Ensure all pipework and the SHE are filled before opening the valves fully
Cover Gasket Maintenance
Reassembly
Verify cover placement and orientation
Check gasket preparation
Ensure gasket material suitability
Place gasket and cover in position
Apply and finger-tighten hookbolts
Tighten hookbolts diagonally using recommended torques
Enter the actual working pressure
Calculate torque using formula: Torque @ 125 psig. x (Actual Work Pressure / 125 PSIG)
SHE Cleaning
Cleaning Methods
Select the cleaning method used
Are the cleaning agents compatible with the materials of construction?
Provide details of the cleaning agents used
Were proprietary cleaning agents used according to manufacturers' instructions?
Provide specific cleaning instructions if available
Flush the unit completely of all cleaning agents
Is the unit drained if not put back into operation immediately?
SHE Shutdown Maintenance
SHUT-DOWN
Allow medium with inlet temperature nearest ambient to circulate after other medium is turned off
Reduce all flow rates slowly to avoid hydraulic and thermal shock
Ensure units with fluids having normal boiling point below ambient do not attain ambient temperature while containing fluid against closed valves
Arrange working fluid pipework system for continuous venting
Is the shut-down period short and the SHE not to be opened?
If leaving the SHE full of stationary liquid involves a risk for corrosion, perform the following
If risk for freezing exists, or if the unit is to be opened, perform the following
If the unit is to be returned to the manufacturer, perform the following
