Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the wheel gearbox and drain the oil into a container.

Install the drain plug after draining oil.

Expansion Chamber Cap Maintenance

Clean all of the dirt away from the expansion chamber cap and remove the expansion chamber cap.

Ensure vent holes on each side of the expansion chamber cap are open and unobstructed.

Fill the wheel gearbox with Valley Gear Lube to the top of worm gear shaft or until oil flows out of the check plug hole.

Install the expansion chamber cap after refilling the gearbox and secure with original hardware.

Adjust nuts #1 and #2 as needed

Re-tighten the jam nuts after adjustment

Allow the tower to cycle twice to check alignment

Adjust nuts #1 and #2 until the tower is in alignment

Continue alignment down the entire length of the machine

Set alignment cable tension using truss spreader

Ensure the grease gun is filled with water resistant lithium based grease

Locate the grease fitting on the end of the hub

Attach the grease gun to the fitting

Refill the bearing cavity using the grease gun

Did grease cream around the seal area?

Was any water pushed out from the hub during greasing?

Helical Gearmotor Gearbox Maintenance

Remove the drain plug and the fill plug. Drain the oil and install the drain plug.

Did you use Valley Gear Lube for refilling?

Fill the gearbox 1-7/8 in (48 mm) from the bottom of fill plug hole with Valley Gear Lube. Enter the amount of oil used (in oz or liters).

Is the oil level 1-7/8 in (48 mm) below fill plug when full?

Use the special dipstick to check oil level.

Worm Gearmotor Gearbox Maintenance

Remove the drain plug and the fill plug. Drain the oil and install the drain plug.

Place the ramp on the outside of the ring as illustrated in Figure 76-1.

Ensure the ramp is 180 degrees opposite the action point as shown in Figure 76-2.

Check if the micro switch clicks when the switch rollers are halfway up or down the sloped portion of the ramp.

Is there proper contact between ramps and switch rollers?

Verify the control box is located 180 degrees from the direction the pivot extends from the elbow.

Note any small changes in the location of the stop in slot shut off ramp and their effects on the machine's outer end distance.
